Schwarzbier - (lager) German for "black beer." This is a very clean dark beer that doesn't tend to have the roasty-coffee flavors typical of stouts. They tend to be a lot lighter and more smooth than stouts and porters. Slightly bitter and very refreshing. Examples: Kostritzer Schwarzbier, Sam Adams Black Lager.
